"Building the Bond Within, While Enriching the Future for Others ..."
I bring you greetings as the 9th Polemarch of this illustrious Chapter. This year we continue on another legacy of the journey started in 2005 by our Charter Members. Since that time this chapter has won Chapter of the Year three times, as well as, National awards for our mentoring program, Guide Right / Kappa League, the oldest national mentoring program in the country for black and brown young men, this year celebrating its 100th Anniversary.
For 17 plus years, The College Park-Sandy Spring Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc has exemplified our motto of Achievement! With a new year upon us, we share greetings from our over one hundred plus Brothers, that work tirelessly in our community and amongst our Brothers to fulfill our Five Objectives every day.
As Polemarch, I recognize that “the challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; to be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; and to have humor, but without folly”. I stand prepared for this challenge, knowing it’s not just me and that it’s not about me. It’s about embracing every brother wherever they are, and taking the baton from the past polemarchs and ensuring I guide this amazing Chapter to higher heights.
Our Chapter motto in this Administration is "Charting our Path and Controlling our Legacy." With that we’re diligently at work charting continued success with our current programs while envisioning new opportunities to grow the Chapter and to have an Impact on our community, with our youth, our Seniors and our Prince George’s and Montgomery County reach. In addition, we’re Controlling our Legacy by creating a five-year plan that will allow us to stay the course with consistency and a shared vision for CPSS.
We’re excited about the work our Kappa Community Development Foundation is doing in conjunction with the chapter and know that our efforts now will fulfill the dreams of our Ten Founders.
We ask that you reach out to us through our website and learn about our community-based programs, as well as our involvement with the leaders of tomorrow via our Guide Right/Kappa League Program.
