Andre’ Gladden represent Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.® During the 1 mile fun walk they had discussion about current chartering efforts in the Eastern Province. Province Polemarch Clanzy reaffirmed that there was an ongoing Sandy Spring/Laurel effort in place.
After the charity walk, Brother Andre’ Gladden called Brother Hank Boyd, Jr. to set up an October meeting to discuss chartering options. Brother Andre’ Gladden met Brother Hank Boyd, Jr. and
Brother Hank Boyd, III for lunch at Arundel Mills County Kitchen to discuss combining their efforts with a new petitioning group from College Park. Brother Gladden represented approximately 30
University of Maryland Chapter, the Theta Theta of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity alumnus. The nucleus of the 30 Brothers had formed a tailgating contingent at Maryland Terps football ball games for over
13 years and had decided to form a College Park chapter.
From this meeting it was agreed that the two groups would form one synergetic group and present a combined petition to the Province Polemarch and the Grand Board of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. A
three person chartering committee was formed in which Brother Gladden was the chairmen, Hank Boyd worked on finance and Al Howard worked on membership. The chartering committee decided that Hank Boy,

The chartering committee submitted a petition as the College Park/Sandy Spring (MD) Alumni chapter with 47 chartering members. This chartering group was one of the largest alumni chartering groups in
recent Eastern Province and Fraternity history. The petition was reviewed and approved by the Grand Board of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity on January 25, 2005. The chapter was charter on May 15,
2005.
